A community rally held in Kibera to empower the female voice to speak up and be heard. SiChana Simama means Girl Stand.
OVERVIEW
SiChana Simama was a day of activities, art and empowering conversations that was open to any girl or woman living in Kibera. We had spoken word, music, an open mic for people who wanted to share stories and lots of food and drink. Every participant got a white shirt and was encouraged to write words of encouragement on each other’s shirts. It was powerful to see girls rally around one another after they shared stories from their lives.
